The legendary resort of Courchevel is known for having some of the best skiing in the world, not to mention the most glamorous bars, chic hotels and hip chalets, as well as enough Michelin restaurants to rival Paris. Its après-ski bars have welcomed many celebrity skiers over the years, from royals to actors and musicians.

The ski area links to Méribel and the Three Valleys which is the largest ski area in the world and has fast lifts and carefully maintained slopes to ensure it stays in excellent condition for the whole winter.

Aside from skiing, other activities in Courchevel include riding in a beautiful horse-drawn Cinderella-style carriage, hot air balloon rides above the mountaintops, magical husky-sledding or a snow-shoe walk among the ancient forests.

If you’re not skiing, it’s easy to meet up with your group by using the pedestrian ski pass and travelling to Le Panoramic restaurant for magnificent views, or even the friendly Le Bouc Blanc in la Tania, which recently hosted the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Shopping in Courchevel offers an exceptional array of designer boutiques: Prada, Dior, Graff, Moncler, Brentana… The world’s most famous brands are all to be found in Courchevel 1850. For sportswear and skiing equipment, Jean Blanc Sports has been at the centre of the resort since its inception.

Known as the ‘heart of the 3 Valleys’, Méribel is located next to Courchevel and Val Thorens and it is easy to access the whole of this enormous ski area (600km) using the fast lift system. There is plenty of skiing for all levels and easy access to fun areas such as the Yeti Park or Inuit Park for children and the Elements or DC Snow Park freestyle areas.

With an ice-skating rink, a swimming pool with slide and a climbing wall as well as a child-friendly area, the Olympic Centre has plenty of activities.

The Tourist Office is home to an auditorium which shows the latest films in French or English (‘VOST’) at 9pm each evening. For a spot of culture during your ski holiday, Meribel has a museum which is located in Les Allues and illustrates the agricultural and skiing history of this fascinating village.
Strolling around the shops in Méribel is always a pleasure; there are plenty of souvenir and beautiful interior design stores alongside sports shops with brands such as Moncler and Napipjri, Quiksilver and North Face. The Coco boutique stocks Armani, Longchamp, YSL, D&G and Prada. For culinary delights, there are boutiques specialising in cheeses and local produce as well as a bakery with fabulous sweet treats.
